Meet Dr. MarkBaker

South Fulton’s leader for results and reform. Known as the “Progressive Councilman for the Culture,” he’s served as District 7 Councilman, two-term Mayor Pro Tem, and Chairman of Envision South Fulton. A retired school resource officer, WMD-response certified professional, and esteemed academic with a Ph.D., Dr. Baker brings unparalleled expertise to the mayor’s office.

Following two close congressional bids—narrowly missing the runoff by 6%—he returns to South Fulton to restore trust, enforce ethical governance, and elevate progress. His gubernatorial-wide campaigns forged statewide connections and policy acumen, making him more prepared to serve as mayor than ever before.

Why He Leads
South Fulton has suffered headlines, dysfunction, and missed opportunity. Dr. Baker is the calm in the storm, the voice of accountability, and the driver of change. His final term ended as the only Mayor Pro Tem elected twice—proof that even amid chaos, leadership prevailed.
